Many people describe a phase of life where they don’t feel fully rooted in who they were, yet don’t recognise who they’re becoming either. They often use phrases like “in between,” “in limbo,” or “caught in the middle.”


This experience can feel confusing and isolating, especially when there’s no clear label for it. Yet being “in between” is one of the most natural — and meaningful — phases of human life.


What ‘in between’ actually refers to


Being in between usually means you’re moving through a period of internal transition.

The old ways of being, identifying, relating, or living no longer feel aligned. At the same time, the next chapter hasn’t fully formed.
